I don't think the gates open any earlier, but there is the park and ride lot off Grand River.

Consider parking at JC Penny. Borderline official trailhead (I think it might be) and dumps you nicely right on to the trail. Very quick to drive to, as well.

Ditto on the JCpenny parking. Or you can park in the Kensington Rd., Brighton, Michigan Carpool Lot corner of Grand River and Kensington

Hmmm thought it opens 7am?, but I've used the p/r lot many times.
It's just East of Kensington Rd and Yellow is right across the Rd.

There is a small Grave yard parking lot On the west side of Kensington Rd., just north of Grand River. Just a small gravel turn in off Kensington rd. with a turn around at the Grave yard. In ten years time I never saw any one visit there.

So, you can park in a well-lit commercial parking lot, or a graveyard.

OPTIONS.

Well, the graveyard is preferable on a cold, wet, dark evening in the fall.

It could be scary at night. Listen to this song and you might not want to hitch hike in the area after dark.
