Question regarding Potawatami trail water pump

I know there is a hand pump at blind lake (and now that I think of it there is one at DTE m-52 lot) but I'm not sure I've never used it surprisingly. My question is can I just drink that strait up or do I need to filter it or add tabs or something? Would love to not have to carry any extra water and just use that as a fillup! thanks

You can drink that water, it just well water, I've drank the water at Blind Lake, I've tasted better water, but in a pinch it'll work, I haven't tried the water at DTE, some well water is great, but they all differ, they will have a food station at that parking lot for TTC Saturday, they may have bottled water, there was a pump at the Yurt on the Poto shortcut too, I haven't tried that one in years, its probably still there. You could drop off bottles before your ride hidden in strategic spots.

Ok good to know! Im not concerned with taste, I usually add pedialyte powder or something similar but ive never thought of hiding stuff before, that is genius. I know they have the station halfway but im thinking for other days when im trying to get my endurance up.

I use the pump at DTE often. It tastes fine to me. But to be fair well water does have a taste that filtered water doesn't, but I'm not that picky.

The DNR tests these occasionally and if they don't pass (or haven't in a while) they remove the pump handle. They are fine to drink from. Sometimes they may taste a little weird, but it won't hurt you at all.

the DTE "fill up" station ran out of water pretty fast last year and just used the pump to refill their bottles. From my own anecdotal evidence, I drank a bottle of it and finished triple trail without issue.

The pump at Ionia has a nice blend of iron & sulfer that gives it a lil extra kick. If you're thirsty enough, you'll drink it. [emoji1362]
