Cadillac to Gaylord route needed.

Planning a bike trip from Midland to Cadillac, staying the night, then heading north to Gaylord. The Midland to Cadillac route is covered, I need to know if anyone has a route using mostly dirt roads / rail trail or paved path to get to Gaylord from Cadillac. I do remember seeing a trail in Grayling that I thought ran to Gaylord, so that might work for us. Any suggestions would be great.
To "come back" would mean I've been somewhere.....not sure if I qualify. W.S 2013

North Country trail, but I don't think you can ride most of it, but you could follow it on side roads, maybe?
