Freehub suggestions ...

Postby Critter7r » June 25th, 2020, 11:07 am

I don't need a whole new wheelset, but I do need a new cassette, but the keyways on the freehub are deformed, (MAD POWER YO!!) and the cassette won't come off.

I figure I can remove the freehub and the cassette as one and then replace them. (I haven't done that yet, because I still need to ride!)

How do I know which one to get? It's a Shimano 525SL hub. Do I just get the FH-M525 hub? I don't see any SL525-specific freehubs. And I probably don't know enough technical info to ask the right questions.

I found an FH-525SL freehub and ordered that and a new cassette.

Fingers crossed.

Of course, the Trek website shows that the Bontrager rear rim (which I have) is mated to a Shimano 525SL hub (which I don't have).

My rear hub is a DT Swiss something or other.

I guess I'll just have to take it apart and see what it is.
