DIY Fat Bike Rack

I thought you all might be interested in this, so here's the plans and write up I did yesterday on a PVC floor stand for a fat bike which I built over the weekend. Cost is right around US$13 and it doesn't have any derailleur or rotor interference issues. Click the photo above or here for the article.

Will it fit a BFL (Big Fat Larry)?

As designed? Not sure; I haven't tried one.

Worst case you'd just have to make the rack another .5" or whatever wider. There should be enough extra in the 10' piece of pipe to accommodate a BFL.

Steve,
That is a nice clean design that could be modified for any type of bike.
Add a tie strap, and it would work great in the bed of a pick up. Just extend the rear cross bar so that it contacts the tail gate before the rear wheel does.

I need to build one for my Jabberwocky... The Stout 2.3" will not fit my garage rack...

Might want to make it a little narrower then, but you're welcome to try mine out beforehand. Couldn't hurt to leave it wide for when you get a fatbike...

I thought the long term goal was a Spaceframe? ;)

Had made a note on the original blog post linked from here, but I recently put together a variation on this for the bikes in our garage using 3/4" PVC (much cheaper than 1" and plenty of strength with the modifications I made to tie the sections for each bike together):

Spreadsheet with cut sheet / buy list (based on current Menards pricing) if anyone is interested in following the plans -- just put in the # of fat bikes & regular bikes and it'll figure out the rest:

Here is my homemade contraption customized with a spot for my wife's tri-bike and my fat bike. Also made of 3/4" pvc just a little different design. ImageImage
