Nice meeting you Don, thanks for clearing the deadfall on A & B, most guys just ride over the stuff and don’t bother stopping, their worried about Strava time.

Rode A & D, dry and good. Man, D is a real a$$ kicker! Evidently I too have lost my stamina. Hats off to you guys who ride that whole trail at once, it definitely one of the toughest trails around. I don't get out to Highland much, but when I do, I am reminded just how hard it is.

FYI.
I was the builder/designer of the Highland Rec trails.
I just posted a message on the General forum about Highland on Steroids.
This is a new trail in Canada (Stokely Creek Lodge) I am building that i think the passionate Highland riders may like.
The current caretakers of Highland are welcome come up and do trail work anytime.....

Enjoy Highland everyone , it was a pleasure building and riding it.

Me before riding Highland : I haven't ridden Highland in awhile, I'll go there today.

Me an hour into the ride : Dammit, now I remember why I don't come here often!

Me an hour after the ride : Man, I can't wait to do that again!

Tree down on D loop mile 15.5 on a slight downhill, be careful.
Rider going the wrong way on C loop arguing with me that he was going the right way since he rode it that way yesterday. Two riders going the wrong way on B loop nar the end of the trail. Jeez.

I forgot to mention - there is a tree (and lots of branches/vines) down on B, about 2/3 of the way between C and D. This is on a downhill after coming around a corner, so it's in a dangerous spot. Panic braking required!

Highland was prime yesterday, all 4 loops. Light dusting of snow over the trail, lots of leaves, and the trail surface itself underneath was dry. No problems on 27.5 2.6in tires. It's awesome in the winter back there, you can truly see how big some of those hills really are. Feels worlds away for being in SE Michigan!

2 small trees down D loop about 14.5 mile marker. Will need chain saw. Trail is in perfect condition for fat or skinny. Watch out for the icy slippery leaves.
