MCMBA: Proud Lake

Ha one time I rode here found myself on torn-up poopie over-grown horse trail, but later hiked here many times with scouts and found the right trails are rather nice. Still have a hard time stopping here when Highland is just a little farther, but nice for folks who live nearby for something else to mix things up. I don't get to Highland nearly enough either!

The campground bypass trail has been recently trimmed, and is in great shape right now. Keep on the lookout for stumpy stuff sticking out of the trail tread or just off of it.

The 4 normal loops at Proud lake are getting overgrown. They are dry except for a few small wet spots in the expected places.

Ive been pruning back the thorns on Proud Lake loops - together with Bill's awesome mowing, the trails are in pretty decent shape but as usual, there is more to do.

Also on the Kensignton Connector: I reported the big down tree located West of Old Plank / South of Horse trail.........to the Kensington Metro Park Manager.

Hopefully they will be able to clear this one.

Rode the Kensignton connector, loop 3 and 4 yesterday. Only 1 try down a little ways into loop 3, maybe a mile. The rest were all clear and tacky with only a few mud puddles. Connected this with Milford and was such an awesome ride. I am kicking myself for not riding here sooner.

Proud Lake has lowkey some of the funnest sections in SE MI. Did campground trail, loop 1, and loop 4 last night. Only a tiny bit of mud on loop 4....that downhill counter clockwise was awesome!

Did all 4 loops last night, all clear. This place is so underrated. Loop 3 has the steepest climbs in SE MI for sure, haha

Very large tree down on Loop 2 yesterday. Besides that, loops 1, 3, 4, and the campground trail were good to go.

Loops 1-4, two track to campground and campground single track were all 100% clear and perfect yesterday. Only a few tracks and setting up nice with the inch of snow ish. Did everything on 2.4's with no issues.

Saw a ride on Strava yesterday for campground, loop 1 and 2 and said studs would be recommended. I am also debating riding here this afternoon with my regular rubber 29er. Just depends on if the snow bonded to the ice or not...

Honestly, there is still some slop in unusual places. Some sections - like the return of loop 4 between Childs Lake Rd and the RR tracks, and the low spot at the start of loop 3, were surprisingly dry. Other areas that are normally dry are very sloppy - including north facing slopes and shaded areas. The trail is mostly good, but there is no avoiding the bad spots.
