"(current plan was Novi, never been to either trail)."

You couldn't pick two trails more different than Novi vs. Proud Lake (specially Loops 3 & 4)

I just rode Proud Lake tonight (including the Kensington connector) and there was little manure to dodge and only a couple sections that were choppy due to the horses. It certainly did not detract from the overall ride compared to sand issues on other trails.

Rode last night, no mowing on 3 or 4, but trails ARE in great shape. Loop 3 after the parking lot till the beginning of the climbing has to be my favorite part of the entire system, so much fun.

There are two trees 50 feet apart down on the Kensington Connector between Hill and Milford Road. Closer to Hill. They will need to be cut with a chain saw, however, they can be easily cleared off the bike.

Trail is in good shape, one small tree down on 4 that you can hop.

Also took a few moments to update the map I made this summer...

Fixed a few issues with the boyscout trail (blue marker on my map) that shares the Kensington connector.
Also added another well used shortcut.
both changes help explain 2 intersections on L4 that were not correct on my first map.

Nice Map Dave ,
I need to show you few more short cuts and off the main map trails.
I also saw the same fat tire tracks when I was X-skiing. :D Its a great place to X-Ski and back woods ski. There is a nice rabbit to Ski/Hike-a-Bike on the south east side of the rail road crossing.

I rode some sections today on the Fatbike and the conditions were perfect for it.

Loop 1 was pretty packed down from hikers and skiers.

Loop 4 saw a lot less traffic and was a little harder going. At the end of the loop near the RR tracks there were 4 or 5 trees down all in one spot. No way to crawl over and very difficult to get around because of vines and thorns.

Cleared out the end of Loop 4. A good group of blown-down dead ash trees. Noticed a widowmaker... "heads up"

Anyone know of any other spots that need clearing?? Hiked Loop 1 last weekend, saw the fatbike tracks. It was all clear then.

Any updates? I am thinking of riding there tomorrow if it's not too wet.

I haven't ridden it in the past week, but I gotta believe that Everything would be fine except for the section of loop 4 on the east side of childs lake rd. Maybe some one else will chime in, but, I'd say go, but avoid that small section of l4.

I just cut the tree out of loop 1, and last night I mowed the start and end of that loop.

Trail is good, get out and ride!

Trail is in need of a trail day.
Also, one tree down about 2/3 way thru Loop 1.

Yesterday I rode all four loops. Things are in good shape. Met a couple folks from the horse group trimming and repainting signs on Loop 3 (yellow loop).

The only part that's "bad" is the tail end of loop 4, the section from Child's Lake Rd to the RR tracks. There are some overhanging branches that could be taken care of in 15 minutes with a pair of pruners. On Loop 2 the bluestem grass is doing really well this year, it does make the trail seem overgrown, but you can ride through no problem.

Overall the trails are in great shape, the tread is good, looks like there's been moderate bike use and low horse traffic.
