I still think the signage that Steve developed for Riverbends trail is overall the best.
It is easy to see (mounted high) , not costly, and a small target for hunters.
Now, on a trail that changes direction of travel, no signage is going to work for those who chose not to read.
Maybe our collective intellect has reverted back to cave drawings and emojis are the answer.

I think that most who are riding the wrong way are doing so intentionally, for reasons mentioned above. We encountered two azzhats going the wrong direction on Sugar on the "Sunday direction", so they could bomb the downhill just after the start. We just happened to be riding UP said big hill going the correct direction; I deduce their intention based their response when we all yelled at them after they nearly took us out.

That said, I can't thin k of another place with better signage than DTE. There are clear, visible, legible, large-font signs at EVERY intersection and non-biking trail offshoot. Kudos to those that made the decision on this!

Thank you for the kind words, Roy. I have to agree, though, the DTE signage is the best I've seen. It's very well done and the best I can think of for addressing trail directionality.

Is the Sugarloaf Lake loop 100% open now? Based on what I have read, I think yes, as of last month, but want to confirm please.

Sugar is open, the parking lot isn't open yet, you'll have to ride 4 miles (in either days direction) of Winn then cross Waterloo Road to get to it, from the Cassidy Road parking lot.

Rode Kame and Winn very early this morning. Had the trail to myself other than the raccoon that was sitting in the trail on Winn. It eventually moved but not in a hurry. Trails were dry and fast.

I rode those two yesterday. Lotsa kamakaze chipmunks on Kame.

I forgot how dang fast those tracks are. I might add a few pads or a full-face next time I go!

Sugar Loop parking lot is under construction, I talked to a DNR Officer that was on a tractor making the new entrance at the trail, she was doing a great job, even clearing sight lines, she said, in the next few week they were hoping to have it open. Great News, maybe that'll cut down on the IDIOTS going the wrong way to get there, and ease the congestion at the present parking lots.. the new Sugar parking lot will be east of the Park HQ on McClure Road just south of the trail.

Will that new parking lot connect to Sugar using the trail connector created for the Triple Trail Challenge?

Nope, the TTC trail went through the Park HQ property, she said the new one she was making will come out east of the HQ. The new exit from the trail is not the entrance to Sugar we used on TTC, it is in a safer location to the right of where the TTC entered the trail, its on flat land with good sight paths in both directions.
