Red and green were both in great shape today. A few greasy spots in each and one legitimately muddy spot about halfway through green. Green also has one or two trees down that will need a chainsaw.

Thanks to everyone who has helped clear the trees downed by the last few wind storms.

That's excellent to hear. Hoping to get over there on Friday for the holiday.

We just got notice of a prescribed burn at Fort Custer today at 1:00 pm on the Green Loop between markers 5 and 6.
This will close the Green Loop until the burn is over.
We apologize for the short notice. Please let your fellow riders know

It should be great. Pivot Demo Truck and bikes there all day tomorrow from 0900 to 1500! Should be really cool.

How are these trails after some rain?

We are supposed to be camping over there this weekend and we are on the fence about going because of the chance of rain.

I'll be there this week camping as well, for the week though. It is fairly sandy in most areas so it does pretty good there. See you on the trail /camp.

Not quite as sandy as it was in the past with some of the newer additions but still has spots. Trail drains and dries fast, only a couple spots hold moisture anymore with some changes that have been made the last couple of years. Just one note if you are familiar, there is a new feature near the end of grannies before climb near the end with the small rock section at the end of downhill, it is now trenched there with a fairly narrow bridge to cross it, wasn't aware the first time I rode it and missed the bridge and wasn't able to clear the ditch due to a small tree in my path.

At the pines near the end of the green the whole trail was blocked off as of Monday, had been able to ride around/under before but more stuff got blown over. Our group ride had to hike-a-bike through the woods or crawl under the pines and hand bikes over the top to finish up. Don't know if it is cleared yet or not.

Red and green were in great shape this morning after last nights rain. Sandy spots were firm and dirt was grippy. There is one tree down within 100 yards of crossing Reese road into amusement park on red. Would only need a hand saw to clear I would guess.

Other than some knee-slappers, the trail is in great shape as of yesterday. :D

Red and green were in great shape today. One big tree down on the amusement park that requires a dismount and hike around. Otherwise it is fast and the sandy parts are pretty manageable for late summer.

Exciting announcement!
Signage and DNR approval is complete at the Fort Custer MTB trails for alternating direction based on the day of the week! That means that the Yellow, Green, and Red trails run the "opposite" direction on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

We have completed some alternate lines around difficult or easily eroded obstacles already, but we understand that the only way to see trouble spots is to wait for them to show themselves. Please DO NOT make your own routes around features that you can't clear. There is no shame in dismounting and walking your bike up an obstacle.

Constant improvements will continue to be made to routes and features at the the Fort to ensure a fun, challenging, sustainable trail system.

Isn't the Yellow trail a horse trail?

Yellow is not a horse trail. The horses have their own trails and can ride the blue trail which is multi-use.
Lots of campers at the Fort walk and ride the yellow as well as mountain bikes.
