How are the snow conditions? I am wondering if I should ski or bring the bike.

How are trail conditions at YS after the big thaw? Worth a drive over in the next day or two? Studded tires recommended?

Steve, I am going to give it a shot on New Years Day. Not sure of the current conditions now. I am definitely planning on using the studly's. If you make it there before then, post up the conditions.

Hey, Tom--well, we got quite a bit of snow here last night, so I think I'm just gonna ski and give riding YS a miss. Good luck if you go!

Does anyone know the conditions out there? Should I bring the skis or the MTB bike? I have been out skiing in CO for the past 2 weeks and haven't been around town to know the conditions :wink:

Visited Yankee Springs today Friday 1/9/2009. Definately would recommend bringing the skis over the bike. A good 6 inches of snow made for a perfect cross country ski day.

Does someone have an update here? I would like to come up from Indiana for some saturday or sunday riding soon. I figure with the big melt the snow is likely gone...

It's going to be a slop fest. I wouldn't recommend riding it whatso ever. There is so much snow, it's going to be wet, and then on top of it the ground is still frozen and the trail will be under water. Riding it this time would do more damage than it's even worth.

I walked some of the trail today, and there is still too much snow in spots to ride. IMO :^)

Rode 2/20 Friday and it was probably your tracks I ended up seeing. Trail had too much snow in spots not adding for a relaxing ride. Still good to get on the bike for the first time in a couple months however! I took the shortcut at #5.5 but noticed there were quite a bit of trees and branches down. I moved two that I was able to pick up and throw to the side.

There will still be significant snow in spots, but I'm going to go see how much I can ride today about noon.
