MCMBA: Maybury

For posting trail-specific conditions and problems

Agreed... Let me know...

The entrance to the Sherpa tube needs some straightening...
1. For safety (fast blind turn)
2. Better/faster line to rocks and banked turns at the beginning.

 I have an idea... and it will add a few more feet of trail :!:
The way it is now the only way to carry speed through there is to cut to the right of the tree at the top... which is not a good idea... :?
IMO, the trail needs to go left (subtly) a ways before the turn to get a more rounded/straighter approach...
Hindsight is always 20/20
:? Any other ideas :?: comments :?:

Adam I agree I rode a couple laps this morning and the turn is way to tight, we need a better site line to enter that area. Maybe I can talk Mike into going out there soon for a look see. Your welcome to join us.

(just KIDDING)
I might have some time Thursday after work... it shouldn't take too long it is pretty sparse and flat in that area as I remember... 8) I have more than enought light in case it gets dark ;) :D

I am here late on Wed, THrus, and Fri (8:00pm) How about the weekend after 3 on Sunday ??
After 5:00 on Saturday ??

Yea I see what Adam was talking about too...the left line would allow the rider to see the chute coming and keep some speed going into it. Just gotta remove some more Hawthorn trees

But to help this out here is my argument part of the post (sarcasim)
No way we already built trails...that line is way to aggressive and dangerous    I will never listen to some hothead Mt. Dew drinking Dh pad wearing FR MTBer

Okay now I think we can continue...

Wow, I love what you guys did with Maybury! The trail is quite possibly the most technical in the Detroit Area...Oh wait, that was just the entrance to get into the park! Every year that gets worse and worse! Our tax dollars at work, I guess :)

But seriously, I DO like the new additions to the trail! Excellent job!!!

we were just talking about the rd from 8 mile......that road is essentially a hard packed singletrack w/ technical rock piles and dropoffs .......I am not using that rd, until it is repaired.

It's a sad thing when the road to the parking lot is rougher than 85% of the mountain bike trail!!!

Sorry I bailed so early on Saturday. Not only did I tweak my back but I came down with the flue later in the day. My son really enjoyed seeing what a trail looks like.

If you need me for more work I'm available (if my back agrees).

Scat I feel your pain, a new road is planned it will only use the entrance as it is, it wiil go almost straight to OUR parking lot. They will move the baseball field and the little ticket office and remove the old road, a lot of this has to do with the Maybury farm changes. When this will happen is anybodys guess. love Dave

I rode Maybury (three times) for the first time this year on April 16th.

Wow! Kudos to those who made a wonderful trail even better.

Thanks much.
