The hiking trails were very muddy on Sunday. I can't imagine the mountain biking trails are in much better shape.

Yeah I was told by someone who rode the paths this weekend the mtb trail is a mess with huge fat bike ruts. I think we need another week or 2.

I rode through the park last night (Thurs 3/28) - I walked out to the trail in a few spots that are close to the paved path and it's still very soft in many areas - some holding water. Close, but not there yet. Hopefully some warm days and warm nights would especially help.
And yes - there were ruts. I'm not sure why there is philosophy that fat bikes don't leave ruts. They do. And then tend to be....fat.

I "met" a fat bike rider there this winter who was tearing up the mud. I tried to explain the damage he was doing and the work that would be required to fix it but he literally flipped me off and told me to call the cops if I don't like what he's doing as he rode off.

Talked to someone who rode today, he said it was firm all the way around. Tree down as you approach the winter turn around the second time. I'll get it by Sunday or sooner.

Do you think the trail will be rideable this Saturday(minus the tree that is)?

This morning's rain was absorbed nicely. I didn't get to ride the whole trail before it got dark (just from the Beck entrance to the winter loop and back), but there were only a couple of small puddles in the usual places. The biggest one is just before the blacktop when going toward Beck Road.

Chisbang -- Maybe this one and the one before it with half a cement block in it could be modified to drain a little better (or throw some big rocks in them and make them features).

Definitely on my radar. Have a pile of crushed limestone nearby to use as filler.

Don't forget next Saturday, April 20 trail day. Meet at 8:30 at the mountain bike trail head for coffee & bagels. Start works at 9. Quit at 1pm, lunch provided. Tools provided, bring gloves and eye protection if you have em. (4/20? who new?)
