MCMBA: Maybury

For posting trail-specific conditions and problems

Postby Sherpaboy » November 3rd, 2004, 12:00 pm

The DNR is in charge of the park, the MMBA helps maintain the trails...but doesn't have the authority to say yes or no. But just out of curiosity who is us ? Are you asking on behalf of a group or just some firends...?

Who is in charge who would allow us to have a night ride at Maybury--anybody know?

In the past the MMBA has held night rides with permission from the Maybury DNR staff.

New trail complete

Postby Sherpaboy » November 21st, 2004, 3:26 pm

Okay don't panic, but here is some new trail at Maybury as well as a "new" trailhead location. The new trailhead is just before the old one. You can't miss the large open space (on the left) leading to the trail. Once here the trail direction is the same so please go left to ride the trail (look for signs).

The other good news is we had a lot of hard working olunteers show up today and we opened the first new re-route. This re-route eliminates the low wet spot just after the "old" trail head as well as teh wroded washed out climb. Several of us worked to even add a nice rock feature into the trail as an option. The new trail is very cool looking and should pack in quickly.

Thanks to oall the volunteers, if you showed up but didn't sign a sheet please make sure to e-mail myself or Dave Poirier so you get FAFL credit. Here is the list of names I have from the sign in sheets:
Dan Harrison
Mike Flack
Dan Tibble
Jean Steinberg
Brent Steinberg
Shannon Flynn
Gary Weak
Greg Cook
Lynn Moore
Trevor Moore
Haley Moore
ADDED 11/22:
Rich Ouellette
Jeremy Daum
Greg Sargent
Dave Poirier
Charles Snyder

Thanks again for the help

Everyone did an awsome job!!! I rode it this afternoon. Like the trailhead and the new climb at the end plus the Rock Garden. Did you guys put that log jump right before the road or is that bandit??? I say keep it.

The log jump is a bandit build, I will look at it today. Everyone that came out for the trailday did a great job, in 4 hours we opened the reroute and closed and reclaimed the old trail and closed the old trailhead. Mike and I will be out there this morning to put the finishing touchs on everything. Thank you again to everyone that came out and helped. :D

Workday

Postby Chef Dave » November 26th, 2004, 2:34 pm

For the workday we need one chainsaw lots of rakes and mcleods and Dan's snazzy wheelbarrel if possible. I will make sure we have coffee and donuts. I finished most of the deadwood removal today and pulled out the small stuff today! We will meet at the Beck road parking lot and the Rangers will open the gate to cut down on walking time.

after riding on the trails in ann arbor today, and the rain on saturday, any thoughts of riding should be dashed - it'll be a mudfest - I think I will come out for the trail day instead of riding.....
