Trail is in excellent shape, ground is super hard, cleared out a couple of fallen trees last night.

ionia is was in great shape today. looked like 2 sets of tire tracks there before us got it started, and we did two laps so the snow is well packed.

1/20/04 great riding, one set of tire tracks, icy and snow is drifted in some spots so you have to walk, but 95% of the trail is rideable. studded tires would be recomended for first half (mostly ice) but managable without.

4/3/05

Went out yesterday and walked the three mile loop. Was really dry, only two small wet spots that can easily be avoided. Should be perfect for riding. I didn't check out the east 2.5 mile loop, i am assuming it is still a little wet. I also skipped the first 5 minutes of the east trail, assuming that is also still wet, but shouldn't be long.

I was here on 4/14. The shorter brown loop is a bit mushy is some spots.
The yellow loop was 100% dry. It was a good ride.

Dry as it gets

Postby marin94 » May 7th, 2005, 9:08 pm

Rode the whole trail on 5/5. Its as dry and fast as I have ever seen it. Get out and ride before it rains too much.
If it doesnt hurt, your going too slow!

Jill and I rode the entire trail on 5/8. The trail is as dry as I have ever seen it, but there are a couple of trees down across it.

Rode Ionia 08-01. The brown loop was overgrown in some areas and a one of the platforms had a broken board. The trail was dry and in great shape. The yellow loop was great except that someone had been on it with a horse  and left some steaming piles in several places.

Ionia Trail Conditions?

Postby tdf2437 » November 11th, 2005, 11:18 am

Could anyone please provide an update on how the current trail conditions are at Ionia? I would assume they're pretty good at the moment since we've had the recent rains, but any feedback would be appreciated.

Rode out to Ionia on Sunday, and it was in excellent shape, trail is covered with leaves, making the rocks and roots harder to see and slippery. no mud or downed trees.

Rode the entire yellow loop today in up to 4 inches of snow. Slow going and lots of slipping :x . What was visible of the trail looked in good shape but will probably be muddy with the warm up coming.

Has anyone ridden here lately? Just curious about the conditions.

Riding it tonight and will post later about the conditions. Some friends of mine rode it last week and it was quite muddy. Pictures at:

Looks like an adhoc re-route around some of the sand traps in the gravel pit too.

Ionia is in great shape. Dry all the way through and fast. This is the best I've seen Ionia in the last couple of years so ride it while it's hot! Had a great time tonight.
