Lapeer Oakdale Trails Trail Days-Ride afterwards

Postby Josh McCreedy » October 16th, 2017, 2:05 pm

Volunteers are needed to polish and complete the first phase of the Lapeer Oakdale Trails. Volunteer crews will be working Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. For parking, search Google Maps for "Chatfield School;" there are several parking spots by the playground, which is south of the school. Signs at those spots will direct you through the bridge under the railroad tracks to the work site--easy to find. We are building on the Demille Road embankment.

The main project is to finish up a quarter-mile section of hand-cut bench. Additionally, there is polish work to do on a step up jump, a water crossing, and a few of the other technical features (berms, rock features, rollers, roller double, etc) on the trail. Bring a bike to ride some laps before adjourning to Tilted Axis Brewing for refreshments.

Tools, snacks, and water are provided, but if you have some favorite tools, bring them.

Please spread the word!

Here's a phase 1 video from August; it's produced by a City of Lapeer city commissioner.

Keep in mind that it focuses on the DTE/Inovateus volunteer work on the Demille bench cut. This footage was shot before the other 100 or so volunteer hours and 30 hours with the SK750 and a 4-way blade.
