Trail Event at Oakdale Trails in Lapeer

Local recreation advocates and trail builders have organized a trail day for this Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. Free lunch, bike blender smoothies, and helmet giveaways are among the perks. There will also be coffee with trail builders, a presentation of the plans for the trail system, and a work session with tools provided. We will be constructing a raised rock feature as well as polishing the .25 mile hand cut bench section and raking out the machine-built berms (6), roller double, rollers, jump, and insloped climbing turns.

Bring your bike to ride what will be completed of the .8 mile phase 1 trail. This phase is 1/3 hand-cut bench and 2/3 feature-rich area for beginners to build skills. It is within walking distance of three schools and is adjacent to a paved linear trail.

On googlemaps, the best spot to park is right by the Chatfield School playground. From there, a sign will point you under the railway bridge to where we will have tents set up. It's very easy to find. We are building in the "bowl" bordered by Demille Street, the train tracks, and the paved linear trail. This section will link under Demille to 3-4 miles of blue square trail (with black diamond stretches) south of Demille, but north of I-69.

PM for more information.
