Can't wait to see how many people bring drop-bar bikes next year. I raced Iceman my first year as a beginner on a CX bike because that was the only bike I owned. I got lucky and made it on the podium, but it was an exceptionally smooth track compared to more recent years. Can't imagine what it would have been like to ride that bike during the Rainman/Mudman.

I'll bet they find some ways to discourage CX style bikes. They want to be the worlds largest MTB race, not a November Barry Roubaix.

He had mountain bike tires and wheels on his gravel bike, great to see someone think outside the box, and win. There are always options, he just got, what worked for him on that day, right. He took SET UP to a different level,, in a different direction, good job. Iceman isn't a mountain bike race is ti? more like a gravel race.

There was a CX race they had to go up some stairs. One top guy brought a mtb and just rode them while everyone else had to run them. He won and everyone else *beep*. Pretty smart and funny too.

Also important to note, Kabush rides for Yeti and they no longer make a traditional XC focused race bike. The Open UP he rode was a special collaboration (really just custom paint) between Open and Yeti. It's honestly the only real option he had to race on.
