I'm thinking about riding over from East Lansing--I know a mostly dirt road route that is about 25 miles (from my house) round trip. If anyone cares to join me, post up and we can pick a spot to link up. I'll probably roll around 11:15...

Nice ride today guys.

It was nice to actually get a chance to finally ride with you for once today Brad, and to see that Chris does own and actually ride a Mountain Bike.

I would've ridden slower, but was scared of that coyote. If he was looking for a straggler to take for lunch, it wasn't gonna be me...

I was trying my best to stay mid-pack and look non-appetizing. :-)

I was looking for you, Bob! Hope to get a ride in with you soon...road, trail, whatever!

Good riding with you all. I ended up with 38 miles on the day. That's quite a nice ride from EL to RL--anyone that's interested in trying it sometime is welcome to join me. My overall average was 12.7 so I didn't slow down too much on the way home. I'm definitely feeling it now...

Just had my first ride out at Rose Lake today. Man the jumps were fun, I must have jumped them and walked back up to ride them again at least 10 or so times. Hopefully I hit all the good parts of the trail, I tried to follow some of the posted routes here but its a lot harder to follow maps when you're in the woods and trails are splitting off all over. Overall it was really fun though. Nice and dry.

Jumps?

Okay, I must clearly be missing something here. This place is over 4000 acres and I've walked most of it - where are the trails and these jumps you speak of? :)

Head north from the Woodbury lot, make the 90 degree left and then turn off from the main trail to your right. There will be a drop-off followed by two jumps: http://vimeo.com/36372970. Another significant, but overgrown, gap jump is located near the Bridge on the west of Rose lake end coming south down the ridge trail.

Note that after you make the 90 degree left but before you take the right fork to the jumps, there is actually another branch to the right that does nothing but go steeply downhill and require pushing the bike all the way back up the hill.
