Once a month kids sessions??

Postby JahkneeFive » January 18th, 2018, 8:57 am

Just curious if anyone would be interested in putting together a once or twice a month "skills" session for kids starting this spring/summer. My thought was to put together something in a parking lot at Stony where we setup some cones and such for slaloms, 8s, stop zones, etc.
I have a 2yr old on a glider and a 4yr old on training wheels that are all about bikes right now, much to daddys delight, and I'd like to keep that enthusiasm and development going by getting them out with other kids in a way that encourages them to stay interested annnndd wear their butts out.

Nothing super formal or stringent, the main focus would be getting them out on their bikes and having fun. The added benefit being us adults get to interact as well with fellow bikers. My 20,000 foot view was to do it on a Saturday or Sunday late morning putting together about 30-45 minutes worth of drills and activities and then wrap it up with lunch. Only reason I suggest Stony is they have tons of empty parking lot space, the big boy trails are right there, and they have a nice playgroup/picnic area.

That is a great idea for getting the younger ones involved. You might want to join the MiSCA Moms/Dads/Coaches page on Facebook and post there as well. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1014018 ... 9069518299

This seems like a great idea. You could also, if you wanted, consider River Bends. Playgrounds there as well, picnic areas, trails, some two track type hills, etc.
