New XC ski book keys off of mtbiking!

Postby JeffOYB » December 6th, 2018, 11:57 am

Just out: "New Wave Nordic Skiing," by me, Jeff Potter.

Available direct from me at outyourbackdoor.com, or let Amazon take more than half and order from them! Also available in 2 ebook formats.

It presents at least 17 concepts you can’t find elsewhere. Which is why i say it's not just another ski book... In fact, it's a ski book with a LOT of mt-biking in it.

Here goes:

1 *It's the only casual, homemade, indie, fun-style ski book. Yet it has a pro layout design. As such it has zero system-type support, no budget, no known market. Its only hope is the grassroots.

2 *Promotes wide-ranging winter fun.

3 *Encourages people who have a hard time seeing the fun of winter to give it a try.

4 *Fights the health crisis of snow-country -- winter malaise contributes to steady lifelong decline.

5 *Shows snowplay is the best way for active ppl to have fun in winter in snow country.

6 *Shows XC skiing is the most accessible snowplay. Affordable and egalitarian.

7 *Contends skiing has social justice aspects that if embraced would save the sport and help a lotta ppl.

8 *Presents the “mt-bike of skis” -- which can do for skiing what mtbiking did for biking.

9 *Promotes skiing singletrack trail, and courses that emphasize ski-handling.

10 *Promotes skiing anywhere there’s snow — ranging widely beyond groomed resorts.

11 *Promotes local, sustainable, low impact skiing.

12 *Promotes the ’ski party' social group picnic side of skiing.

13 *Shows 6 ways to deal with the low snow of climate change — this is HUGE! Only ski book to confront climate change head-on!

14 *Promotes 20 types of recent equipment technology that enhance control, ease-of-use, and versatility -- selling points that the ski trade doesn’t push to the public.

15 *Applies to skiing many lessons learned from recent booms in biking and other thriving outdoor sports. Snowbiking is acknowledged as new leader in several respects.

16 *Acknowledges declines, challenges, as well as successes, in XC skiing (and shows how they might be addressed).

17 *Teaches fresh, new ski techniques — this is HUGE! The sport hasn’t seen new techniques since skating.

if anyone reads the book and likes it, please post a review at amazon otherwise it'll sink like a stone and have no effect.

and if you don't like some part/s of it, also post a review about that -- all news is good news -- controversy, etc., but please just describe what/why you mean rather than just say 'sux!'

thx!
