Western: Cannonsburg SGA

For posting trail-specific conditions and problems

We have been approved to do work at the game area throughout the 2011 season!!!. Along with regular clean up etc. 2 reroutes in section 3 can be done, getting rid of the nasty mat just before the parking lot at the end of sec 4 and a possible reroute around the nasty sandy beach is in the works. Also, we need to clean up and paint the kiosk and replace the trail info, maps etc.
Anyone that has agreed to adopt a section or is willing to help out please contact me asap (PM or email) so we can plan a meeting to discuss and set work dates.

Thanks again.

Checked it out last night while riding some back roads in the area. Sad to say from what I could see it's going to need another week at least, spring thaw conditions still in effect on the trail.

Rode Egypt Valley today, a few slick spots nothing too major. No trees on the trail, it's good to go!

I also rode CSGA saturday and I Disagree. Just look at the parking lot, its still real wet and soft and its in the sun. Maybe 85% is good to go but there are still many really muddy spots and soft spots and stll even a few patches of ice. :?
Please give CSGA at least another few days of solid sun. The Ski area opens on Sunday the third and that usually dries out sooner.

Thanks to whoever cleared all those trees from the trail. Very much appreciated.

+1. Even after the ice is gone, the ground under it will be frozen for another week after that. It's not ready to ride yet. Saw a couple of cars with bikes on the back driving out of there Friday night while I was riding back roads.

Thursday 4/7 it was dry and hard pack. Only couple soft spots where soil is full-o-clay. Rain today not helping, but ground is thawed.

Did the triple today, Luton Park, SGA, Cannonsburg. State game area is already very sandy in the last section. Seen a lady with a bloody leg walking her bike from a fall there.
