I am thinking about riding YS on Sat. as I figure it will be empty with all riders at the Iceman. Is there any issue at YS with hunters this time of year? How about after rifle season opens, is it ok to ride then as well? Thanks.

Anyone riding Yankee Springs these days? I'm thinking of heading that way over the holidays but the trails could be under 6 ft of snow for all I know. :)

I ended up riding there yesterday (Saturday) doing the warm up loop and then jetting out on the dirt two track roads as the main trail was difficult to keep any momentum and continue riding.

Join the western chapter and Tim Curtis for a Trail Work Day on April 11th 2010 from 1pm-3pm as he prepares and makes repairs to the trail in advance of the 2010 Yankee TT. Meet at the Deep Lake Trailhead. Bring a bike for the group ride following the work session. Bring work gloves, boots, water and bug spray. Tools provided.

Too snowy to ride. I went out there w/studded tires with the intention of riding the trail. Snow is still too high in the woods. Ended up doing backroads/dirt roads/two track for the duration of the ride.

and still too snowy, I was there yesterday and couldn't resist doing a few miles, but it was about 50% walking. Rode the Barry-Roubiax loop which was in great shape except for Sager Rd, which was still mostly ice.

Yankee is ready to ride. The trail is dry and there is very little snow. If only I were also ready to ride...

Thanks for the info. I will be doing my initial dirt ride on Friday....so I will see if I am ready or not.

Are you sure? I figured there would be still some muddy surface and seeing as the ground probably hasn't thawed this wouldn't be a wise decision if there is any water on the trail.

Keep in mind that "ready to ride" definition by some people can mean a vast majority of things.

As others have said yankee is good to go. I was out there today and saw a small 20 foot or section of snow the rest of the trail was dry leaf litter and damp sand. No standing water or puddles anywhere. There were a few ruts in the pines but no worse than usual.
