Anyone have idea about trail today - March 1 ?

Is there any way to determine if the trails are rideable on a daily basis? I'm noticing that there are not many postings regarding trail conditions this time of year. We;re looking to find out before heading down there.... Can we call the park to get an idea of the conditions? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

Honestly, these forums do not see a lot of traffic. Your best bet is to visit the "SE Michigan Trail Conditions" page on Facebook. It gets much more frequent updates.

I use the SE Michigan Trail Conditions page on Facebook. There's a good amount of traffic on the page giving updates for many of the trails in the area

Park Rangers don't visit the Mountain Bike trail regularly and aren't aware of trail conditions. Calling the park office won't help. We have to rely on each other. If there's not many postings it might mean that not many people are riding, a good indicator of trail conditions. Trail right now has a base of ice with some snow over it in spots. A small amount of dirt showing on a couple of North facing spots. If should be rideable but slippery from now until the next thaw on Saturday. Studded tires would be helpful. Watch for unplanned dismounts. If you ride from the main trail head you'll see the dirt right away, don't be fooled, lots of snow and ice to come.

Hey. Is there any way to categorize the rides and also see the “comments” on the posts on that Facebook page noted above? This from a public perspective for those without or xxx as a member of Facebook?

It would help greatly for riders to get specific trail information on trail use and not tear up trails without being a facebooker. At least on the forum, information is easy to see and available to all.

The spring thaw has arrived. Trail is muddy and easily damaged right now. The signs are up at the trail heads informing people that it's best not to ride now and in the near future.

Just to push back a little bit and support steveracer. The tracking and data gathering Facebook pulls doesn't rely on your real name or a fake email address. I'm a "no facebook"-er as well and I understand folks use the tools that work for them but sometimes a tool choice means it has limitations. I'm not going to see all the info on a facebook page. I deal with that. I'm not normally going to push folks to change just because of my preference not to facebook but I'm also going to push back on the "just do what everyone else does it's not that bad".
