SRAM noisy brakes

Postby mtnbikinbryno » March 25th, 2019, 9:14 am

So, I knew buying it that the SRAM Levels that came on my bike were known for being noisy. That said, they do work well, and I'd rather not replace the whole set if I can avoid it.

Any tips to make them less noisy? Maybe a different set of rotors and pads? I don't even really notice it on the trail unless it's wet, when they squeal. I do notice them quite a bit on bike rides around the hood.

Did you bed them in properly: https://www.sram.com/sites/default/file ... date_0.pdf

If not, clean the pads with alcohol, scuff up the rotors with a scotchbrite pad then clean, and bed them in again.

I replaced my Sram Level TL pads with Jagwire disc brake pads DCA779, no noise, I kind of miss it, its so quiet on the trail now...
When was the first bicycle race?
When the second one was built !!!

Thanks guys! I didn't bed them in properly. I will try that and then some new pads if needed.
