CRAMBA: Stony Creek Skills Park

Was out there yesterday and both pump tracks are way too wet to be ridden. Someone decided to try anyways and put some really nice 2-3" deep ruts all the way down both tracks . Jumps area has some really bad washout that makes the bypasses...well unpassable. I'm going to wait a bit for the thaw to go through and then I'll get out there and start restoring, but for now this area should be avoided.

Guys/Gals - Do everyone a favor, and save your trail coordinators a lot of work, and PLEASE stay off the clay surfaced areas; kids track, pump/slalom, jumps.

I hear that the entire area has been leveled.

The Metroparks removed the Skills Area (which includes the jumps and wooden features) as the overall conditions, liability of obstacles, and lack of use cause it to no longer fit with their vision for the park. It's their hope and expectation that the redevelopment of the Shelden Trails (the MTB trails) will offer an enhanced riding experience for the biking community and more than make up for the loss.

There is a lot of truth to the old saying, "use it or lose it". I remember the day we set the posts for the Giant teeters, a great day!
( Oh, the smell of a worn out generator )
Maybe if the teeters had survived the skills park would of attracted enough use, but it did not.
And to be honest, it was an eye sore near the park entrance.
