Rode the Blue Loop this morning. Trail was packed down and good to ride. The only trouble spot was the low area just past the bridge where the yellow and blue meet.

Yes, that section east of the bridge will flood.
I have seen 6 inches (or more) of water over the trail there.
This time of year that water is cold!

Ride it with dry socks in your pocket! Ha Ha

There is talk of rerouting the trail on that side of the bridge up the hill more immediately and I'm ready willing and able to help make that happen. I'm also keen on any other rerouting around perpetual mud spots whenever such work is needed.

Where could you possibly reroute to?

Instead of cutting immediately left at the very bottom of the hill after crossing the bridge, why not go straight for a few feet then left onto a newly bench-cut line higher than where it is now, sloping up and merging into the existing right steep curve uphill a bit further along?

Also, I've got time the next few days if you wanted to start now since the ground is likely not to be frozen for a bit. If not, I was otherwise going to head up to Marquette to get some rides in while it's crappy down here.

I think you are referring to a different location???

They were talking about the cement bridge on Blue. Am I missing something?

Oh I thought this was the bridge on yellow before the hill. Sorry. I'd still be more than happy to help route that short section a bit up the hill though.

I rode Blue yesterday afternoon. 80% is destroyed by foot traffic when it was slushy. The new JCP connector was awful too, with heavy foot traffic and someone on skinny tires. Good news is that there were no skinny tracks anywhere on Blue

Rode this afternoon. It was perfect. Thanks to the snowmobilers who "groom" the trail

I'm glad to hear about the yellow bridge and after trail efforts, coming this spring. That has always been a problem area the past few years. It would be great if we could find more area and create a longer climb. Maybe transverse the hill to the right after the bridge 30-40 yards, then back left across the hill and hook back up to the current climb after that tree stump/roots location. Heck, even if the left hand turn on that bridge could be eliminated and have a straight bridge would be great! Many of us have drifted off that slight bend in the bridge and crashed, over the past years....

Maybe there should be web cams all over the trail, then when crash numbers hit a certain frequency level in a certain area(s) then the trail can be straightened out or made less dangerous. Seriously, come on, its ILRA, jezzz. I'm referring to this comment, not trolling here and not referencing reroutes based on water retention ect.

Any current trail reports? Everything in the Lansing area is an ice ribbon.
