Best bike shop for all things MTB

Postby iroc8210 » September 21st, 2012, 10:49 am

I've been out of the area for a few years but will be back this weekend and need a few things and *try* to support the LBS when I can. I'm willing to pay a little more for convenience and local knowledge. Which bike shop is your favorite go-to for decent inventory and not just looking at you telling you they can order it and have it in 2-3 days? Also, I know they have to make their money somewhere but not interested in the pushy employees who would rather tell you that your bike/parts are old and not shiny anymore and try to sell you a $3,000 bike than just press in a bearing race and install a star flanged nut into the steerer tube of a fork...if at all possible. Its a tall list, I know.

Oh, and I'll be staying with family in Ortonville so anything around Oxford/LO/Clarkston/Waterford/Holly/Grand Blanc would be great. But if I have to drive a bit further for something greatly recommended, I will!

Thanks in advance,

~Cori

I like Keith at Paint Creek Bikes in Lake Orion. He knows his stuff and races too. Good selection of parts and builds nice Niners.

Cool thanks...I'll have to check them out. I've been to Main Street a few times before I moved but never really had a place I liked enough to make me become a loyal patron!

Cycletherapy in Waterford is a good shop.
I tend to go to TreeFort in A2 these days as an excuse to go ride there while I'm in the area, plus they do price matching which is awesome!

They don't price match online prices do they? If so that might still be worth the gas! Like I said...I have no problem paying 10-15% more than the cost of something online's after shipping price...but 40-60% more? I could still add on next day air and save 15%.
