Anyone local have an Onyx rear hub?

Postby wifehatesthebike » May 17th, 2018, 9:30 am

Looking at possibly going with an Onyx rear hub. The only negative I've heard (weight aside) is it has a minor "wind up" effect/rubber band effect when the sprag engages.
Looking for anyone around/close to South Lyon/Plymouth area with one I could check out for a few minutes.
Thanks in advance.

I have been using an Onyx rear hub for just about a year. I absolutely love it. I will PM you - I live in Northville so I'm sure we can coordinate a Maybury meet up.

I went with them on my fatbike build last winter and was so impressed that I had another wheelset built for my SS 29er with them this spring. The silence is golden! And I've never felt anything but instant engagement.
I have heard that they will soon be releasing a new version that is ~100g lighter but I didn't want to wait. You are welcome to test them, I'm in Brighton and both bikes are Medium.
