trails around alpena, harrisville etc

Postby jjc155 » June 12th, 2018, 10:04 pm

Just getting back into Mtn biking after several years away. I have a place in Black River just north of Harrisville and was wondering if there are any mtn bike trails in the area that I can hit when I'm up that way.

Thanks

Check out http://thunderbaytrails.org
Chippewa Hills looks decent and they host a race there.
I think there's also a short trail at RockPort State Park but they don't have it listed.

Don't bother with Negwegon it's wide 2-track and was posted "no bikes" last year.

Thunder Bay guys are your best bet. Not a ton up there but there are a lot of 2 tracks that are good for miles.

My wife and I were up in May for a weekend of riding. There is some trail at Rockport...some single-track, mostly double-track though. Some nice sections along the edge of a quarry. Also rode Chippewa Hills. Very hilly, a bit challenging but FUN FUN FUN.

Rode Negwegon in the rain...all 2-track but the views from the beach were worth the cold and rain.

Cool thanks guys. Didn't even think about Negwegon. That's a 8 minute drive from my place or a three minute kayak lol. Guess I just have never seen anyone ride there all the times I've been (opps just saw BB post about Negwegon.

I've seen some signs for DNR trails around "downtown" Ossineke, not sure if they are ATV trails or not? Anyone know?
