I was gifted one of those collector item shirts a couple years ago. You need to be confident of your sexuality to wear that shirt these days.

Ha yeah you need NOT STRAIGHT RIDE PRIDE!

On the other hand I can appreciate the purist approach to Highland trail. Highland has become sort of a cult trail for some riders including myself. Maybe we should design and order T-Shirts or Jerseys with the map of the trail and a text "That's where Real Mountain Bikers ride" /quote]

Regarding the "Cult trail".
One Sunday morning while working on a reroute, I heard a rider on the other side of a ridge yell "This trail is better than religion".
It made my day and is what motivated me to do the best I could. That was almost 25 years ago. How many people have be "converted" since?

Good to see the trail builder posting here.
I used to organize night rides at highland in 1996 (or 1997 ?) when only AB loop, using the MMBA list server. We’d go backwards at night.
I was MikerPB180 then, helped a few times on trail work there.
Yes, fondly remember the trail newly cut, and when C and D added.
56 now, have not rode highland in 5 years [emoji22].
Thx Bob Y.

I try to go to the church of Highland at least every other week!
Don't worry. It's all downhill from here.

Those night rides were a blast, especially in the winter.
FYI; I will be at Lumberjack 100 this weekend feeding Dan Y.
Would love to talk to anyone about the good old days at Highland.
Dan & his sister, Victoria were my test riders.
Proud they were part of the build.
Dan, I think has a few Highland KOM's on Strava too.

For those that are interested, most (but not all) of the MMBA Bent Rim Bugles have been archived on the MCMBA site:
http://site.mcmba.org/index.php/library/documents

Bob or Mike, if you (or anyone else) happens to have any of the missing issues, please speak up. We would love to fill in the gaps!

Does the archive set up by Steve Vigneau have the missing issues you are after?

I can honestly say that I do not know - I do not know where Steve's archive is. If it's not linked to the MMBA home page (like the MCMBA archive is), it isn't too helpful. I did look on the CRAMBA page (which is linked to the MMBA home page), but it wasn't there that I could see.

TBH, I am not personally after them...I just think it would be good to archive them for posterity if they still exist.

It was a bit slow at work today, so I started poking around on the internet. I found where Steve archived the old Bent Rim Bugles. It is here:
https://archive.org/details/bent_rim_bugle/

This archive appears to be the same as what is on the MCMBA site, although organized MUCH better. The ones that I can tell that are missing (11 issues in total) are:

Vol. 2 #1 - late 1987 or early 1988
Vol. 4 #4 - Winter 1990-91
Vol. 6 #3 - Fall 1992
Vol. 6 #4 - Winter 1992-93
Vol. 7 #1/2/3 - 3 issues from 1993
Vol. 8 #1/2/4 - 3 issues from 1994
Issue #70 - Winter 2004-05

If any of you can get me those missing BRBs -- either in print or PDF -- I'll add them to the archive.

And thank you, John. Providence of this is the MMBA had them scanned, and posted on their website (when it actually had a library). MCMBA copied this, and I had a copy from my old backups. I decided to put it in archive.org -- effectively an online library -- and did so for ease of access. So it's all the same files, just easier to get to.

I have access to a scanner similar to what the MMBA used, so if I were to have copies of those ones, I'd be glad to scan them.

Steve,
Would you be willing to put out a call for copies, pdfs etc for old BRBs on FB? You have a lot of friends far and wide in the MI mtb community, and I’ll bet a lot if them no longer visit this here forum.
