If the two options above for a truck fall through, let me know. I will be watching my 7 month old daughter but more then willing to come out to help if needed. She enjoys car rides.

The water level is very high in the lake so they're releasing water via the dam, thus really raising the water level of the creek and the swamp area leading into the new area. As it looks like the bridge leading to the new section is at the very best a long ways off (various reasons) I wanted to let others know of another way into the new section. When entering the meadow near the party store there is a paved path that runs parallel to the sandy stretch. You can turn left there, follow the pavement to Glengary Road. There is a marked crosswalk. After making sure traffic is clear, cross the road and ride East towards the dam. Ride just past the dam and look left, across the road. There is a two-track path leading into the woods there. I cleared any major obstacles in that path except a large log JUST blocking the entrance into the new section. There are a lot of small pokers as you get closer to the connection to the new section so I'd recommend walking your bike at that point (only 50-100 feet or so). Lift bike over the tree and then you're good to go.

Main trail in good condition. Tree down past marker 5; Trail Coordinator notified. I attempted the party store/over the dam access to the new trail but wasn’t up for the thick mud bushwhacking to get there and turned around.

Fear not Tim!

You can access the new loop via Glengary Road and the mud mosters can be avoided.

I'll post a map in a bit.

Thanks,

Tim

Access the new loop from Glengary road - use CAUTION when crossing the road !

Longer term goal for a bridge crossing is still in the works, - we ran into some snags.

To find the new section see the map below - lower right hand corner red pen mark ups.

Still a few details to get to out there - thanks for your patience, PM if you'd like to help

Trail was perfect Thursday afternoon. Should still be great as the tiny bit of precipitation I've gotten at my house will only help some of the really dry areas. New loop is awesome too. Has some very technical spots! Will be great once it gets packed down a bit more.

Look at that map, that is an amazing amount of trail in a very small area.
I remember when we built the first and main section of trail. On, maybe, the second, trail day there were 2 work groups of about 10 that started from 2 opposite ends and met somewhere near point 8. I think we cut 2 miles of trail in 1 day. I think from point 19 to point 20 was cut in one trail day.
I think the trail length has doubled since the first year.
Everyone who has worked on this trail over the years should be proud of dedication put into it and very happy that it is still finding room to grow.
Thanks to all you have put in so many hours of trail work!

Two trees down on the first section plus a widow maker at about face height near the end.

Big tree down on Disney.

Small tree down on new section.

How thick is the widow maker? I may be able to get out there this weekend and take it out if it's safe to do so. I need to get off my butt and help with maintenance more this year.

Otherwise I'll do a recon ride and see if I have tools to handle the task.
